Our work includes many facets and we are frequently asked the question of how we charge for our services. Our charging structure allows us to bill fairly and directly generating an end cost savings for our customers.

Parts and Do it your-self ers.
We are happy to supply any parts or panels you may wish, but the price of parts does not include consultation or design on any aspect. Consultation is available, but not included.
Returns policy: Any items other than the ones exempt may be returned in the first week for any reason. Exempt items include electronic electrical, opened product and any custom configured product. Warrantee issues are not returns, see warrantee policy.
Warrantee policy. All warrantee issues are handled quickly in accordance of the terms of the manufacturer warrantee.
Residential customers
We charge for your site assessment or initial consultation and then apply that against your purchase, of a system over $30,000. Multi unit buildings qualify as a commercial installations.
For those building new, integrating separate systems like geothermal and solar, wind or other combinations (except grid tie) the time and or communication etc, to design the installation is billed separately. Mileage that is charged on assessments is not able to be applied to your credit.
Commercial installations.
A consultation is necessary to assess the building, electrical service (or plumbing), location and the installation. This is billed out as required. The cost varies with the complexity of the job and the type of report requested. Regular consultation rate applies for the report and design rate for system specifications.
On jobs where bid(s) are requested, Boyd Solar charges a bidding fee. The fee varies according to the scope and size of the project and submission requirements. Bidding is a costly process that uses our most experienced employees, and we are up front about that. This fee is beneficial to you, the tenderer, since no associated costs from the bidding process are carried into the project costs and you are paying for one bid, no prior costs from lost bids have to be recovered from your project. You are assured of a higher quality project since a charging bid winner is not attempting to recover the costs of lost bids out of your project. Paying for your bid has also made bids more accurate since the time can be taken to correctly assess all aspects of the project.
We require a Purchase Order to begin the bidding process, and reserve the right to withdraw from the bidding if, at our discretion, the proposal is flawed or poorly designed, and will do so at the least cost possible to you.
On any bids or tenders the customer agrees by proceeding that all design rights remain the property of Boyd Solar.
Payment. Boyd Solar accepts bank drafts, cheques, money orders (and cash if you wish). We regret that we do not accept credit cards because of the amount of bogus card orders we receive, (presently about 5 per week). Instead we recommend using the credit card cheques available from Visa or Master card to claim your points.
Extras or changes are not included, and time and materials are billed for on an ongoing basis on installations. (monthly on longer jobs) All services are subject to GST.
Over due accounts are charged 2% per month.
Please note: The whole renewables industry usually works on a pay before order basis, it is unusual for terms to be extended to anyone but the most established customers, and then only with an impeccable record and short terms. We charge interest because we keep our payments current and late accounts require us to borrow to cover your materials if your payment is late. We only pass this cost onto the late payer and do require them to be paid. So please be prompt.
